I've followed the shift here in eastern Oregon over the last decade. The Hispanics came as farm labor, and got wise. It definitely tracks specific segments however. Roofing has gone mostly Hispanic, and indeed, they even own the little companies. Even the white owned ones have mostly Hispanic workers. Cement slab work, but less so in foundations, is next, then sheetrock and flooring, but they both still have significant white workers. Framing/carpentry is mostly white, and electricians/plumbers are near 100% white as are the owners of most general contractors.
