Arnie,

I have been following the SI thread for sometime now and, today, I have decided to join it. $75 is a very small price to pay for the insights I have gotten (and the money I have made) reading the thread of NXTL and other stocks. I am addressing this message particularly to you because I, like many other readers, have thorougly enjoyed your thoughtful comments along with those of Bubathon, Roader, (even Ramsey's) etc.

Like you, I am a long-term holder of NXTL (being a proud owner of a rather significant position in it). I have been in the stock since late 1994 (through FND-for those of you that remember the preferred)and have lived the downs and the recent ups. Most importantly, because of this thread I doubled up my position at $18, and cannot complain at these price levels.

Given the size of my investment in NXTL, I am clearly interested in what everyone has to say (negative or positive) so that I can synthesize (as you have said) my own opinion. And before one jumps at me asking what my opinion is, I will volunteer it by agreeing with the bullish (of most of) this thread that for the next 6-12 months we are faced with a positive outlook. I am not even bothered by the potential of MOT sharing the direct connect feature in their enhanced CDMA syatem, because it is too far away.

My issue is what is the further upside potential (i.e., past $35/40) in the next 12 months for a company that is entering the stage from cashflow negative to cashflow (EBTA)positive but, yet, cashflow negative after it pays interest etc. and with no positive earnings in the near future. At some point investors will stop "paying up" for potential earnings and may adopt a "wait and see" attitude until earnings materialize. Any opinions? And again, I apologize for the length of this message (my first one). In the future I will keep things short unless I have something to contribute.

Good questions. Here's another one: is MOT's CIG developing dispatch for their digital cellular systems? If so, when will it be available? I know that CIG just demonstrated the first hybid phone that works on GSM and DCS 1800 systems (this was in Rome,,,guess ol' MOT just lucked out against market leaders Ericsson and Nokia).

"does NXTL have written MOT assurances tha give NXTL exclusivity to direct connect, either in perpetuity or for a fixed period of time?"

I don't know for sure, but I'd bet the ranch that NXTL does NOT have an exclusive license for dispatch from MOT for perpetuity. I don't know about a fixed period, but that seems a lot more plausible.
