Studs Terkel in his last writings and interviews wrote and/or spoke of his belief the most recent generations are plain scary in their ignorance. In one his last interviews he spoke that Hannah Arendt is famous for bringing forth the phrase The Banality of Evil but he, Studs, now feels surrounded by the Evil of Banality . In the end, Studs, a longtime leftist said he now considered himself a Radical Conservative, who denounced both the Republican and Democratic Parties, saying one couldn't really delineate the one from the other. For his semi-sarky remark he was a now a Radical Conservative, was i think, in part, his presenting his oneness with the Jeffersonian/Lincolnian decisive opposition to america ever being imperialistic, and was counter to many of the american founders. Also with Jefferson pronouncing an ignorant society can not maintain a democratic society, and democracy would vanish from a nation where the populace have become ill-informed. This view of Jefferson has proven has true. Jefferson and Lincoln both declared imperialism as counter the very idea of America, and of course Lincoln said "of the people/for the people/by the people", which, any intelligent person can see does NOT exist in America now. We can only watch Obama's egregious accord to the great bailout of the crooks, to realize nothing has actually changed. i note Obama grand pronouncement that executives would need have curbs to slow down their accumulation of wealth, sounded good, but has been quietly removed--the old ploy, say something, and then make sure it doesn't happen. And ,of course, his accontability demand(albeit, ah ah ah , like it is, ah ah yes NON-RETROACTIVE, and yeh that makes his statement hollow BS, o my!) Already he is counting on the crowd being too dim to pick up on these BS tactics. *************** Back to Lincoln It was Lincoln that committed political suicide in 1848, when on the floor of the senate he denounced the POTUS as a liar and deceiver in drawing the U.S. into the BOGUS Mexican/American War. That 12 years later he emerged to become POTUS one history's ironies. Now the point is, what i just wrote here would to the like of my nephews be matters of which they knew nothing, and they wouldn't care that they knew nothing!!!! Ignorance has become something to believe in. The whole creationist movement, and it's growing success, is what i call the ENERGY OF AMERICANS drive for "Let's Kill Our Minds" Great Times!!!! O like wow! i want to read the latest on Angela Jolie and Brad-- like i am in a groove with the de-evolution , Dude! yeh MaxDude, me, i watch Oprah, that keeps me smart , let's party. Signed, MaxSarky. p.s. i list my politics as So Far Left I Might Be Right
