I've got an entirely different take. We regulate the populations of all sorts of animals. We need to start regulating the numbers of the most rapacious and destructive animals on the planet, US. Anything thing that serves this end is a public good. Abortion is a public good and should be free, legal and encouraged. Contraception and voluntary (for now) sterilization should be FREE and should be pushed HARD first, but failing that.. We're dealing with a finite pie here, called the Earth. Until we're spreading beyond it, we need to CONSERVE it, like good CONSERVATIVES.
