Uncle, "A falling camel attracts many knives" [so they say]. bosveranda.blogspot.com

I admit that I have repatriated some US$ cash to avoid being totally crushed in any total collapse, capital controls, confiscation etc. It's not exactly sticking a knife in, but it has a similar effect. If support for the USA flees for safety, then the USA does indeed run into trouble. But at present, plenty of people are finding security in the USA [hence the rising US$ versus for example NZ$].

We capitalists are very fearful and while we are dreaded by people around the world as being ten feet tall monsters, in fact we are pathetic, powerless and hope only to avoid having our property confiscated by the rampaging mobs of bludgers and thieves. We flee at the first sign of trouble. That's why the Asian Contagion got going so fast and furious - they were trying to escape with their lives.
