Plenty of Afghans are just working for the Taliban because it's a job. And tribe-flipping is an ancient part of warfare in that region.

Working for the Taliban and being Taliban are not the same thing. I am aware of the history there.

It seemed a good idea to me. That's how I found gang warfare worked best when I was an 11 year old [not the grown up vicious young adult gang warfare] = actual fighting is far less effective than having the better side to belong to so the other side simply fizzles out without a fight.

Petraeus seems to have a lot of clues on how to run conflicts and human primate tribal alpha male shenanigans.
