Bill O'Reilly of Fox TV, who is hardly a leading fan club member of Obama's left-wing ideologies, thought that Obama is a tough guy, or words to that effect. I'm inclined to agree with him. I'm looking forwards to "the test".

Oh, Obama is not a softie where he understands what ruthlessness can buy him, like kicking all his opponents off the ballot.

But he has a false and naive model of how geopolitics works. He thinks that if he is nice to hostile countries they will be more cooperative. They will smile back and make the same unacceptable demands as before, and probably more. They will also emulate Syria's trick of exacerbating problems then offering to make them better for a steep fee.

Besides, it's already obvious that Obama has no interest in foreign policy. It's totally unclear who will actually make policy.
