How ridiculous, as though the air force and army are two separate things.

The reason to have an air force department is that flying things around requires a lot difference knowledge than driving them around on the ground.

Reinventing the wheel is not too bright and looks like more of the old "military intelligence".

The army invented the air force because it was a specialized technology requiring specialized knowledge. Same with the nuclear bomb department. It has its own specialists in their own department. Same with the chemical and biologic al warfare department. The guy who fires a rifle is not the same person who launches an anthrax bomb. The one who launches a space satellite is yet another specialist.

When departments are squabbling over who gets the new toys, it's time to cut everyone's pay in half and fire half of them because they obviously have not enough real work to do.

Hooray for Obama: <
"Too many contractors have been allowed to get away with delay after delay in developing unproven weapon systems," Obama said, attributing $295 billion in cost overruns to "influence peddling" and "a lack of oversight" that produces weapons meant "to make a defense contractor rich" instead of securing the nation.
