Tarken-san has shorted HSBC [along with other banks, some now covered such as Wells Fargo]. 2008 was a great year for him and 2009 too so far, including switching profits from the banks to QCOM at $28 [now $33 or so with profits booming]. Maybe HSBC will be saved by a rights issue. I wouldn't bet on it. < so many people in hk have asked me about the merit of subscribing to the hsbc rights offer to existing shareholders, and so many folks i know had subscribed, making clear to me that the regret is not yet genuine, and seeking for redemption not yet sincere. >

The next rights offering will be the one to take.

See what the market for stones is in Europe. Might take a few with you. Maybe trade of rare stamps or nuministic coins ?

It is getting tougher to make money on gloomy news.

Try to find some good news.

Also, suggest you carry some cash in various currencies, in case part of the credit card system freezes up.
