Like Canadians, Swedes are subjected to long waits

You want to take your health care news from IBD? What did you expect them to say? We don't have to design our health care after any one specific countries plan; my hope is we would draw the best from the most successful.

Are other countries more successful; well sure if measured in life expectancy, or infant mortality, or cost. For another slant;

<<<Like Canadians, Swedes are subjected to long waits. They also have denial-of-care problems that sometimes lead to death.">>>

I think that happens everywhere - even here in the United States.

I think there are people working on the problem so that it happens less and less but I also think there are people working to prevent that kind of progress from being made.

>>"The Swedish government system is no better, says IBD. It also refuses to provide some expensive medication and, inhumanely, refuses to let patients buy the drugs themselves. Why? According to a Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons article, bureaucrats believe doing so "would set a bad precedent and lead to unequal access to medicine."<<

Karen -

Does Investor's Business Daily have anything other than flat statements to support that view?

People I know who live in or come from Canada and Sweden are appalled at our healthcare system. They know that their systems aren't perfect, but in comparison, ours seems completely insane to them.
