My guess is buyers' remorse is surfacing among the lib Dem chattering classes. That's what you're seeing with this obsession with how the Republicans are handling the dismantling of our country under their tutelage. It's a mental distraction from worrisome thoughts.

:) I doubt anyone here WOULD see the Republicans as desperate, anymore than a liberal thread would agree that the massive problems aren't being addressed brilliantly.

But whether they are being addressed as they should be, and whether they will succeed, even partially, is an unknown to all of us. Personally, I have a lot of concerns about certain elements of the stimulus package.
