Most people are happy with 128kpbs MP3

allen

perhaps more people use music for distraction, as background noise or simply an excuse for not communicating.

you and i want melodic submersion. ear buds need not apply. 1280 is more like it.

i found towerrecords.com having good prices on sacds.

how i miss the actual tower records stores in nyc. used to go there saturday nights after dinner with my wife. would have been fun taking william there now. it is exciting checking our cover art, listening to live music and simply checking out the scene. well, thanks to ipods, it's now checking out itunes.com only.

It's ironic these companies only understand cash flow, not profit margin (like Apple) businesses.

It's just built into the music business culture, and they are too stupid to see it's killing the business. All they can see is Brittany Spears.

Some are smart enough to still manufacture vinyl. Vinyl sales are up this year. SACD or DVD audio should have caught on among people who like spatiality etc. Quality sound is so much more important to me than quality TV images.

I hate Sony. I had a Sony blaster. Absolutely the best blaster ever - I broke it. They discontinued it. I would have paid 2x the price, it was very small with absolutely stunning sound.

I have Sony TV show DVDs and they have 5!!! FIVE copy warnings between EACH show AND a stupid Sony graphic that makes me hate them more every time I see it. I just want to grab the CEO of Sony and strangle him to a well deserved death.

I remember sitting at a bar with Russ Soloman. He pulled out a Weather Report CD. The first I'd ever seen. I questioned him about it's viability since I realized digital could be transmitted over phone lines (didn't know modems were slow then), but he assured me CDs would be the "next big thing" and of course they were. Ironic that the very fact that a used CD is as perfect as a new CD put him out of business.

Sometimes VERY smart people make VERY stupid mistakes.
