I couldn't believe Obama claiming that he was no stinkin' socialist and that he was merely furthering the policies of that dyed in the wool socialist, George Bush.

What struck me was how lame it was. That hasn't prevented a number of Dems from using it gleefully - hey, we didn't start it, it was BUSH! so you can't criticize us! - but still an obvious lame excuse. Obama is president. He shouldn't be excusing his policies, he should be defending them in ringing tones. Also he should get used to the word 'socialist', because he's going to hear it a lot.

A thought exercise. Tony Blair, for all his "New Labor" mantras and fp hawkishness, was nearly as far left in domestic matters as Obama. Imagine how he would have answered the question.
