It depends. If the target is a 32 bit microcontroller with megs of flash and RAM, an OS and such, probably. If it is an 8 bit one with a few k of flash, maybe 128 bytes of RAM, what would be the point? At most a page of code, maybe two if programmed in assembler, and it is a one man project and code maintenance is rarely an issue.

Code maintenance is rarely an issue, although you'd like to build and maintain libraries of certain common functions.
