No, I hadn't seen that article, but alot of what it says is true.

What's interesting to me is that the folks on this thread who are most vociferous in the defense of the GOP are most probably also feeling the pain precisely because of GOP policies. My parents are in that camp.

What exactly do they find so objectionable about providing a better life for 99% of Americans? And an even more important question is why would we want an economy that grows faster and gets even larger than it is today, if 99% of that new wealth goes to the top 1%? And I'd better not hear that it'll trickle down, because 30 years of testing that theory has proven it absolutely false. What good does all that effort do if it isn't more equitably distributed?

Redistribution of wealth has been occurring alright. It's been redistributed from the 99% of us to the top 1%. It's time to rebalance the equation to revive the American Dream.

As hard as it may be to believe, the peak income year for the bottom 90 percent of Americans was way back in 1973, when the average income per taxpayer, adjusted for inflation, was $33,000. That was nearly $4,000 higher, Mr. Johnston pointed out, than in 2005.

What was the mix of single filers vs married joint filers in 1973 and 2005? We all know the percentage of single filers is higher now than then. It makes a difference.
