Why would industries that use a lot of power decline over time if they can't use coal? That conclusion would be logical only if you assume that renewable energy will never be cheaper than coal power electricity prices. That's a very large assumption don't you think

No, its not a large assumption. You're the one making assumptions about things that haven't happened yet.

Besides its not just a matter of not using only coal, its a matter of paying carbon taxes in some form or other regardless of what hydrocarbon is used.
