[Between the lines with GTE]

<<< I believe this has a lot to do with the MCI bid and little to do with the ADSL deployment. I personally think we might see some kind of PR before next year but that is only my guess.>>>

Scott --

Like Winnie the Pooh, I've thought and I've thought and I've thought till my thinker is sore and I still can't figure out what's going on with GTE's ADSL plans.

Up until Friday I was convinced they were going to deploy FlexCap while waiting for DMT chips. Now that the analyst meeting has been postponed, I'm wondering if they're being influenced by BCTEL and BC in favor of a predominantly DMT rollout.

On the other hand, there's no reason why they couldn't have a normal press release for ADSL and save the CLEC launch for the first of the year. Or, they could do a soft launch like BC's apparently done --- web advertising, no big press blitz, probably donuts and fruit punch at the office. :)

As for Progressive, I'll get Wired and read the article. I also have a friend who will know it, I'm sure.

I'm hearing more good reports re: Siemens and NN. Feeling the positive juices flowing again. :)

Cheers!

Pat
