I believe that providing unconditional, limitless assistance is self-defeating.

Then you must be as irritated as I at Obama removing one of the few successes of the Clinton WH....workfare...

I'm really not as absolutist as I appear but without considering the question I posed to you, it's rather difficult at times to come up with a starting point for discussion and more importantly an ending point.

I believe that we CHOOSE to provide compassionate governmental safety nets, not that there exists some absolute entitlement

I believe that the government is the least efficient way of doing anything. Not to mention that these huge bureaucracies once established tend to be self inflating.....

One of the safety nets is SS, the government is doing a real great job running that....<sic> I say our gov't hasn't any business implementing any new entitlement programs until they fix the ones already on the books...... If they abided by that I could guarantee that we'd never have another entitlement problem......
