It is indeed.

Really well-designed object hierarchies are at least as much a work of art as they are science.

Perhaps one of the most difficult things for me to see when transitioning to oo development was how ostensibly disparate objects have enough similarity to be derived from the same ancestor(s). It does require a different way of thinking.

I admit that at times I would like to code some FORTRAN for the hell of it. But in reality I wouldn't want to go there. I haven't used a goto in so many years it is hard to imagine at this late date.

Truth is, though, my development skills are terribly outdated anyway. It is likely I will never work on a substantial development project again. I'm moving on with my life.
