It is getting increasingly hard to find a healthy PC software
company to invest in. Microsoft's lardware is everywhere, if not
selling than being given away.


Excuse me? This does not have anything to do with investing.
This has to do with what is right for the human race.

I am painfully reminded how we should leave our emotions at the
investment house's door. A 15 year MH'er.

There are lots of Software company to invest to other than MSFT:

These companies' share prices have double in the last 52 weeks check it out.

MCAF (Anti Virus and Network Management)
SYMC (Anti Virus and Network Management)
ADBE (Desktop Publishing and Graphics)
ORCL (Database)
IBM (The biggest and number one software company in the world
ERTS (Video Games)
NSCP (Internet Browser)
SAP (Database Vendor)

There are many more, but those are the good one that I can think of right out of my head.
