Deregulation and unbridled greed lead to this. Time to reregulate with efficient oversight that allows markets to function and avoids market distortions. The whole of the Bush Administration's market gains were an illusion as we just found out.

Brumar, you ignore the fact that the rich and powerful have always controlled the levers of government to enrich themselves further.

Like Karl Marx said, I guess.

Actually the rich have often been the victim of governments seizing their wealth.


Your both right.

Overall money flows from the rich to the government.

But influential individuals, usually rich (at least after they influence the government and often before), and also influential corporations and other organizations, manipulate the government to increase their wealth.
