The contraction will most likely happen as reduced new issuance and cancelling the credit lines of a bunch of people who are not currently qualified to have credit. The era of 0% teaser rates is probably over for 99% of the population.

Unused cards will probably get steep annual fees to encourage their use or discontinuance. Terms on low interest cards will be changed.
