Tom - I think your newsletter ratio is interesting. About a week ago I went back and checked the dow on certain days and then checked Kahuna and there was definitely a correlation, the trick is as you say to get a good cross section of bulls/bears. As for the market I think after the FED scare is over we should see a turn around. If rates are raised there will be a slight impact although by then probably pretty much factored in. I was just mentioning on IDEAS that if you check the 200 DMA on a number of charts with similar traits you find that in the past it has taken about two weeks for those stocks to turn after the kind of hit that has just happened. Two weeks ties right into the FED meeting. It sure would be nice to see 7400 or 7600 DOW.

Randy.

Tom, I share your sentiments. Back in Sept when BK thread hit the hot-subjects list on SI, I said to Joe G that I was very nervous about it. Now also, with so much weightage on the short-side, I am nervous about the popularity of the BK tread in the last 2 days. However, unlike in Spet, the whipsawing of bulls since mid Sept gives me a little comfort. I theorize that a lot of bulls are out of gas now. As of this week, it is not just the bears, the bulls started feeling the pain as well. Besides, there was not much frantic put buying on Friday. A contrary indicator.

Hi TT,

We haven't communicated in ages...

But I disagree with you on several points:

- Typically, VIX shows a relaxation of pressure before a bottom is reached... we are AT LEAST two days away IMHO before that can happen.

- SE Asia is nothing and yet investors are taking it as SOMETHING! THAT is the tone of the market... and if you believe the BIGGEST bear turned bull, Joe Granville, it is the tone set by the public that is important.

And lastly, there is probably SOME merit in what you say concerning postings to bear threads... and I have been expecting a CRASH UPWARDS and it may happen after the first of Nov after all this crap is out of the way.

Regards and let's hear from you now and again,

Bill
