Why gold hasn't moved - I don't think the FED will be able (short term) to print enough money to replace all the money being destroyed.

There is talk that the FED will start buying long term bonds in the next two weeks.

My guess is they will be careful and somewhat limited with their buying.

The real monetization of debt may not occur until 2010. First there will need to be some large fiscal deficits.

The velocity of money is still dropping as the savings rate goes up.
