Hi Stanley. I agree with your thoughts on buying gold but think, like Bobbys' post, that there is more to this than meets the eye. It is very difficult, in the darkest hours, to be able to stand far enough back to see what is really happening. A week before the 87 crash Soros was proclaiming that we were in a new era and stocks could only go higher. Just before the Japan market began its' fall the pundants were saying that it couldn't happen because the govt. wouldn't let it happen. Ten years ago it was the mantra that the U.S. economy was dead and could never compete with Japan; today it's just the opposite. It always seems to be in someones' interest to push conditions to the extreme. One mans garbage is another mans gold. It's just my opinion, but I can't help but feel that given the luxury of time, the death of gold will also show itself as having been just as foolish.
