I'd call the people who want to move against freedom "statists", and those that want to move strongly for freedom "libertarians", or "classical liberals", or "supporters of freedom". "Leftist" usually implies support for government ownership of the means of production, but there are so many ways to reduce freedom without starting or increasing such ownership. "Rightist" or "conservative" means so many things, that it sometimes becomes meaningless.
