RE: The "100" in the Zip name

Roger,

Yes, the "100" has always been there. Don't forget
that, when the Zip first came out, they also offered
a 25MB Zip disk. All the Zip drives can read and
write them, too. Nobody bought them, though (they
were hard to find), and I suspect that they've been
quietly dropped. I certainly haven't seen one in
a long, long time. They'll be collector's items
some day, so if you see one, buy it. (Disclosre:
I'm an IOM long, and such purchases may positively
affect my bottom line. <g>)

Thus, I'm not convinced that you should interpret
that "100" as a clear indicator that the "200" is
imminent. Iomega has been quite open about a
200MB Zip being something they'll probably do
some day, but I don't think they're giving you
any particularly insightful hints via the numbering
they're currently using.

By the way, the commercial failure of the 25MB
Zip disk is clear evidence that Iomega isn't
infallible. Just thought y'all should be
reminded of that. Horror of horrors, they've
not executed entirely perfectly. And their
complete silence about this scandalous situation
gives further evidence of the dishonesty and
untrustworthiness of the management. Single
digits are coming Real Soon Now. And yes,
pigs do fly.

Cheers, Tom (long IOM)
