Carville backed off, but only because he had no choice. And only for a very short time. As soon as there was an opening, the liberals, including Carville, continued the attack that was put on hiatus on 9/11.

You're trying to make the same absurd argument that CJ was trying to make, i.e., that Carville was acting out of some kind of benevolence here. He was acting out of sheer political acumen. He knew that 9/11 instantly gave Bush political capital and it was STUPID to in the position of attacking so brutally. And he was right.

It was sheerly political. If there were an attack against this country today Limbaugh would IMMEDIATELY cease criticizing Obama. Also sheerly political; it would be political suicide to do so. And like it or not, Limbaugh has to live by political rules just like a politician does. He can alienate his listeners just as easily.
