Even if its wrong (and I'd say it isn't) it isn't dishonest.> If you read the piece it's a clear misrepresentation of the situation (ie. Obama's position, statement, and action) You can, however, disagree of course... fine by me. <Their tactics here are presenting their position.> Yes, as I said, tactics like misrepresentation. <Similar to your tactics, but not involving personal attack on people for merely stating their position> 1.) I understand that this is an emotional issue, but there is no personal attack, the post is directed at the Catholic Church's statements, and here, one statement in particular, not a person. That makes the conclusion ["so they show less hate"] in need of another lead in. To clarify, I have never seen the Catholic Church make such statements and to me it sounds like the radical hate groups which label women murders for having abortions. That's simply my opinion and stated as such. AS a practicing Catholic, I certainly agree with your (understatment IMHO) that it is certainly "not helpful". 2.) But while you're trying to make attacks personal, in fact, if anyone said anything personal it was the church: ""We U.S. taxpayers will now be forced to pay, whether we wish to or not, for the killing of our youngest brothers and sisters on the dubious hypothesis that their murders might, in the future, benefit others. Why did President Obama make this decision?>> 3.)As for "merely stating their position", that is pretty much my point, what you see as "stating their position" looks to me like obvious misrepresentation AND personal. The above statement clearly lacks any context of the overall situation and therefore (IMHO) falls very low on the "truth scale"... sadly. Well of course all readers can decide for themselves...
