I think the problem as we get older is we lose circulation in our extremities making them colder.

buy a few packages of hand warmers or foot warmers. i use them when i go out to clear snow.. otherwise my fingers and toes get painfully cold. they come in sealed package open and once air is exposed they heat up. i throw each into gloves and shoes. they last a few hours. just terrific stuff. buy them at sports auth or dick's sporting goods.. or on line. prior the pain would be awful with mittens and shell over them to protect against wind.. two pairs of socks and still the cold would get through to the fingers and toes.. no longer.
