Renee,

Please excuse me as I am not familiar with Adriene Berg. I live in New Orleans where we have quite a vacuum in financial talk shows on local radio. Bob Brinker is the only financially-oriented show we receive down here, and he's been pre-empted by LSU and Tulane games each week since the football season started. If you would, please fill me in on Adriene's style/format.

In a separate, yet not totally unrelated matter, does anyone on this thread have an idea of how one would "pitch" a financial programming show to a local radio station? About two weeks ago, I submitted a rough outline/proposal to the local Bloomberg radio affiliate about doing a weekly show on investing. What I had in mind was something simular to what Mr. Brinker offers, yet more inclined to the individual stock investor. So when someone says "Gary, I'm looking at a stock called XYZ Inc., what do you think?", instead of saying "I don't follow that stock..what mutual funds do you own?", I would offer my best insights on that stock and the industry they are in.
In other words, I'm looking to do a show that has the same basic format, yet is a lot more lively and involves a lot more individual stocks. I'd want to use a screener who could filter out the several "rate my fund, Bob" calls and use that time to address individual stock questions. In addition, if there was a relatively unknown stock that was receiving a lot of attention (i.e. big percentage moves with big volume changes), I'd offer a quick review of that stock.

Like I said, I submitted this idea in writing a few weeks ago and have heard no response from the station. My gut feeling is that this format would work. My background would qualify me for such a role--I have been a guest on several radio/TV talk shows dealing with stocks, worked as an analyst for four years and worked as a broker for eight years, and managed a hedge fund for a few select investors for a year. So I have the experience in analysis (being an analyst), general investment questions ( having been a broker for 8 years) and short term trading (running the hedge fund). Do local stations receive several programming ideas like this, or is there some flaw in the way I am proposing the idea to the station's GM? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Gary
