I work with an Israeli who is shocked by the voting patterns of the American Jews. I live in a Jewish neighborhood, but it is also an entertainment industry neighborhood, so though it is upscale, it is pretty damned liberal at times. I have a few gay friends who basically credit the success of Prop 8 to the increased number of hispanic california voters who will tend to vote for liberal candidates, but with the catholic background, would be against gay marriage. Though many coal workers are unionized and very much brainwashed by the unions, they should be able to connect the dots that if Obama is successful in killing the coal industry, they are quite simply going to be out of work.

Cause Republicans would lose a bloc of voters going pro-choice. this is BS though. What are the pro-choice people going to do? vote for Obama? It turns into voting for the lesser of two evils. Something that the rest of us have had to deal with for a long time. Republicans won't lose one vote by taking abortion out of the equation. They may lose some funding, but I doubt that too. It's all upside for the Republicans at this point if they stop focusing on abortion (and gay marriage for that matter).
