>>> Anyone with enough money can elbow their way in front.

This simply is not true. I deal with specialists every day. I have never heard of one asking for a premium for immediate service, other than a couple of isolated incidents reported in the media.

It isn't about how much money you have. The vast majority of physicians apply reasonable techniques for scheduling patients. If they don't, the patients can merely walk next door. I've had CT scans and other imaging procedures scheduled and results back within two days on a non-emergency basis.

According to a Canadian physician I heard speak a couple weeks ago, routine labwork and X-rays can take 2 weeks to a month in Canada. An MRI, months. A CT, weeks at least. And a surgery for degenerative arthritis a year or two. He had given up in utter frustration.
