A little like Grant, but more like Sherman. Patton would be "prepared to fight battles of attrition" if he had to, but he was much more about bold maneuver, always charging forward, but not always taking on strong defenses, surround them or bypass them, cut them off, take out their supply and let them crumble before follow on forces finish them off. Grant would have been more about grinding them down then going on to the next group of enemies to grind down.
