Bottom line we are in poorer health, and spend more

The first point is a bit questionable, the 2nd not at all.

But for the moment lets question neither. You have a fact (or two) but not a real bottom line. Stating the fact doesn't indicate what changes would make things better, or even that your proposed changes wouldn't make things worse possibly on both counts.

And it's killing our competitiveness.

I don't think it is.

Bottom line we are in poorer health, and spend more, which is certainly (at least partially) related.

Close all bars and you probably save 15,000 lives a year. What do you think about doing that?

Also, go ahead and ban cigarettes altogether. I'm a reformed smoker, but I'm for it. No sense allowing people the right to kill themselves. Also, I think it is almost certain that shutting down all McDonalds and KFCs would save thousands of lives -- both from heart disease and from cancer.

You didn't happen to check out Mike Huckabee's campaign, did you? I didn't think so -- that little liberal ideology thing got in the way.

But had you done so you would know that in Arkansas he led a campaign to educate people to leave off fast food, exercise daily, stop smoking, and he, himself, lost 100 lbs and eliminated his diabetes by having done so. Precisely the kind of example we need in the White House.

Oh, but we got ourselves a smoker who can't put them down.
