It depends on what you call evil.

Which is why I said "to serve clearly evil purposes"

but I'd say that the GOP is reacting and hoping for Dem failure, just because they are bitter apples about being out of power

I'd say that is mostly not the case, and not evil where it what's happening.

The main reason is that Republicans think Obama's policies are generally not in the countries best interest, just as Democrats thought Bush's policies where not.

I think that's the case with Limbaugh (but there is no way to really know), I'm almost certain that's the case with Republicans who oppose Obama in general, and I am certain that its true in my case.

There might be some borderline cases where they either don't know what the short or even mid term effects of Obama's policies will be, or think that at least the short term effects will be beneficial, and worry about that fact, because they think the short term benefit will cement the policies at the expense of long term loss. In that case there is a sense where they want the country to do worse in the short run, so as not to cement the policies in place, but they feel that way because they think the short term pain would save us from much worse long term loss.

I don't think there are any significant number of people who think Obama's ideas are good for the country both short and long term, but who none the less want him to fail, for purely partisan reasons.

hoping for --- failure, just because they are bitter apples about being out of power.

Thats how I see the Democrats of the past 8 years. Worse, in my view, they did so involving issues involving national security and war fighting while troops were in the field.

Opposition to domestic social and economic policies based on convictions about what is best for the country are to be expected and aren't so bad imo.
