I remember the story about the strikeouts and the "K." Good story. I agree that what is suggested by observational studies is useful. If there were an observational study that presented a correlation between pineapple and premature death, I'd pass on the pineapple rather than wait for confirmation of cause and effect. I really don't like pineapple much anyway so why take the chance. But up-ending the health care system because of a correlation between nationalized health care and incremental and uncertifiable improvements in longevity is over the top.
