Interesting. The fly in the ointment, though, is that there were countries who didn't implement any New Deal-like policies during that time. If anything, they did worse than the countries that did, and the US and New Zealand did the best of all. Both of whom had pretty similar policies. In fact, you can easily compare New Zealand and Australia, both of whom had a similar economic model, export of agricultural products to the remnants of the British Empire, and took polar opposite approaches. New Zealand came out of the Depression, Australia floundered and got worse. Now, granted, Australia had a larger population so the comparison isn't exact. But there are more similarities than differences.
