The federal government has to go in and break these guys up. There are even fewer of them than before the crisis and they are all TOO BIG TO SURVIVE. Banking isn't that difficult especially when the federal government guarantees many of the deposits. Take deposits, make loans, abide by regulations, don't get robbed...come on, how hard is this? If you want to make outsized profits, invent a useful product or service. Slicing up piles of debt into incomprehensible securities isn't a useful activity.
