I stopped using Heathrow 2 years ago. I could take the T4 low quality and crowding, but once the security went to liquid carrying and no longer would fly BA or into Heathrow.

Interesting that the UK wants to check people LEAVING - and they want to check EVERY means.

The US is finaly getting around to checking departing people so they figure out the visa overstayers. The US is concentrating on the usual airports and ports.

If we look at all the UK actions - incredible number of CCTV cameras (more than any other country), large DNA databases for very minor crimes (not very cost effective), speed cameras, and proposed requirements to have every ISP save internet traffic for two years.

The 'crime' rationale is often used - but look at how the UK justice system does not lock up criminals, but leaves them on the street. Contrast with the US, Canada, and other places that lock criminals up and actually cut crime.

So crime persists, creating an ongoing rationale for more and more restrictive surveilenance.

The UK is heading towards a prison island, with extensive capital controls.
