I'm not sure what your point is. FDR HIMSELF wanted a balanced budget. Morgenthau wanted it, as did others, but FDR wanted it. Conservatives in congress had zero to do with it.


Of course, everyone wants a balanced budget. Oh wait.....you do as well...don't you?

In any case a balanced budget was the only palatable talking point the Rs had back then......sort of like now....so they used it. Didn't do them any good......FDR got re elected a couple of more times.....and they slowed the nation's recovery from the depression.

Republicans: part of the problem, not the solution.
