As someone who has in the past participated in concierge medicine and may well do so again in the future, I'm very interested in this topic. The piece that Tim had originally posted didn't include information on the disposition. I was curious about what was meant by "sick visits." So I did a search and it seems that a visit is either "sick" or "preventative." I started reading the detail criteria and quickly threw my hands up. I'm sure you've mastered all that. Too gnarly for me to wade in.

In the course of the search, I found a copy of Dr Muney's membership agreement. FWIW.

MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT
This Membership Agreement (the “Agreement”), together with Appendix I and Appendix II attached hereto, the AMG Mission
Statement, Member Application and Patient Notice of Privacy Practice constitutes the Patient Contract between
________________________, whose address is ______________________________ (hereinafter “Member”, “you” or “patient”),
and John Muney M.D., P.C., (hereinafter “AMG Medical Group” or “AMG”).
I. Membership Benefits:
(A) Included Benefits: All AMG Members in good standing shall be entitled to regular preventative checkups for adults and/or well
baby checkups (including all vaccinations up to the age of ten

except the Gardasil vaccine). Preventative checkups may include all
treatment, testing and care identified on Appendix I and Appendix II.
(B) Benefits at Additional Charge: AMG Members will also enjoy the benefit of unlimited sick visits charged at $10.00 per visit.
Such visits may include, but are not limited to, lab tests, x-rays, sonograms, office-based surgeries and physical therapy.
(C) Services Not Available: THIS AGREEMENT DOES NOT COVER HOSPITAL STAYS, EMERGENCY ROOM VISITS,
SERVICES OF SPECIALISTS NOT EMPLOYED BY AMG, TREATMENT (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMAGING)
PROVIDED ANYWHERE OTHER THAN AT AMG’S FACILITIES, AND ALL LAB TESTS OTHER THAN THOSE
IDENTIFIED ON APPENDIX II.
II. Fees for Services & Payment:
The AMG Membership fee is $79 per member per month. There are no co-payments for any services. The membership fee for the
first month shall be due and payable upon initial enrollment. Thereafter, unless otherwise agreed upon (or as may be set forth in the
Electronic Funds Transfer Authorization), all Members will be billed by AMG monthly. All credit card charges or other electronic
funds transfers shall be processed on the 25
th
of the month in advance. Discounts may be available for those Members who pay
quarterly (or annually) in advance, or who refer other Members to AMG. Membership fees are non-refundable.
III. Term:
The term of this Agreement (the “Term”) is for a period of one year from the date on which this Agreement is countersigned by
AMG. Upon the expiration of the Term this Agreement shall automatically continue upon the same terms and conditions as
contained herein, on a month-to-month basis. After the expiration of the Term a Member may cancel this

Vaccinations after the age of ten are not included but will be made available at a discounted fee to Members
Agreement at any time upon one month’s advance written notice to AMG’s Corporate Office, provided however, that the Member
pays all Membership fees through the date of cancellation. Notwithstanding, AMG reserves the right in its sole and absolute
discretion to terminate the membership of any Member for any reason.

That's right - they forced him to RAISE his rate.

P.J. O'Rourke said “When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators."

I wonder if someone is effectively bought here. Not sure whether its the legislators or the regulators in this case. Also the buying might not have been a cash transaction, but rather some more subtle form of regulatory capture.
