In the last twenty years there have been swarms of Chinese immigrants and their attitude is nothing like the locals. They [young males] have committed many crimes. Which doesn't surprise me after visiting Beijing and seeing the general attitude of people. I'm sure there are honest people in Beijing, but I didn't find any. Everything about it is a fraud, including the power structure. The police don't believe in what they are doing. They are acting. They are like Saddam's soldiers - willing to wear the uniform, follow orders [as much as they have to] and collect pay. But like Italians in WWII, given the slightest opportunity, they'll give it away because their hearts aren't in it. The power holders in Beijing are like the power holders of US$ in Washington. Mao said power grows out of the barrel of a gun and he proved it. He killed en masse and took over absolute power mercilessly. The US$ was founded on gold. Cold, permanent, monetary power. Then Mao died and the US$ was moved off the gold standard and both Beijing's power and the dollar became fiat = based on a fraud, inheriting the majestic cloak of the original power, with emperors strutting about boasting of their glorious raiment. But those in Beijing and Washington are both living a lie. Sure, Beijing's bosses managed to skoosh the Tienanmen protesters [after they scavenged around and found some soldiers willing to do the deed]. But note the most famous photo - the guy with the plastic bag standing in front of the tanks. If those were Panzers he'd have been minced in moments. The soldiers and police don't really have their hearts in it. While the 50th celebrations were set up to look like a Nuremberg rally with silly Jiang Zemin shouting "Sieg" and the crowd calling back "Heil", it was all fake. Oh sure, China's bosses will be very nasty in their attempts to keep power and they dispose of many people. But it's in a haphazard way. You can watch any "grand function" among Beijing's powerful and see the stilted fear of putting a foot wrong, with everyone sitting up straight and keeping their hands on the table, like Saddam's cabinet but he didn't even pretend to be "nice". He'd just take them out and shoot them or not even take them out before shooting them. Mqurice
