Bald Eagle:

A) No actual proposal has even been submitted to Congress yet, (and were one to be it would be likely be 'dead on arrival'). Conclusion: what you are getting all hot 'n bothered over is simply a bargaining chip... a negotiating tactic in the much larger battle over Health Care reform.

B) This proposal was ALSO FLOATED by the Bush administration, and more then once, too.

The Bush team explained that, (if health care paid for by employers was taxed the same as *any other* compensation paid by employers), then it would cause:

1 --- Americans to be more 'cost conscious' about their health care expenses, (and this would result in the slower growth of healthy care costs in america).

2 --- It would *save American business* potentially tens or even hundreds of Billions each year, helping them to be more globally competitive.

3 --- It would STRONGLY ENCOURAGE individual American citizens to shop around for PRIVATE INSURANCE PLANS... which is a goal that the Bush administration had been pushing with several other efforts as well!

Baldie, I'm am *very surprised* that you do not remember the history of this idea!

The Bush administration pushed for it SEVERAL TIMES.

(Regardless... it did not pass then, and it hasn't even been officially proposed NOW... so I suppose you can get your dander down now. And go back to whatever you were doing with that 'dudu'. <GGG>)
