All I care about is doing the right thing. Sometimes that means letting circumstances work themselves out. Other times it means intervening and providing relief, fixing regulation, shoring up institutions vital to the economy, etc. How can one argue the apple pie stuff you've written above...it's so obvious that I'd feel uncomfortable writing such pablem...so therein lies the presumption. One would have to believe that the folks assigned to try to contain things are morons or crooks...frankly there's so much we (you too) don't know about the financial relationships and conditions that exist after the housing bubble burst not to mention the consequences of not taking action like bailing some of these financial institutions...how can anyone but those close to the process stand in judgment of the actions that have been taken by people like Paulson and Geithner?
