<<LSI top line growth is dismay>>

getgo234, you got that right.

Interested in LSI as a long term play with xDSL and Fibre Channel ASICs (networkers) segment providing larger % of future rev growth as bandwidth demands increase. Looking for an attractive price w/3x potential return in three years; 20 - 60, 15 - 45? Something like that.

Wishful thinking, maybe. LSI seems well positioned to benefit from IDC estimate of $10B Fibre Channel market by 2000. Don't know estimate of xDSL market, but speculate that it could be $BB by 2000 also.

Waiting for LSI to bottom though, to then weigh risk/return worthiness. Currently have no position in LSI, but have been following and investing in Fibre Channel (ANCR, QLGC, ADIC), and looking to add further to this play. Primarily invest w/2-3 year horizon, and LSI just popped onto the radar screen with its recent spiraling price action.

What can I say, I LIKE them cheap(er), which usually means that they are in trouble. LSI fits that category alright, momentarily. Bad things do happen to good companies, on occasion. The smart ones transcend, the not-so-smart continue to descend. I think LSI is a smart one.
