You don't know enough about the settlement to gloat so quickly - also did they say they could 'only make money' etc? Let's see the exact statement. Who were you in a previous life anyway? Oh, and NO - I was never a Barrick employee although I once worked for a predecessor company but left 2 years before Barrick took over. Barrick's hedging program made their success possible - it you doubt it ask yourself 'which is the largest gold mining company in the world today?' ADD - Initially the hedging was initiated to finance, with price certainty, major capital projects - do you think for an instant that Goldstrike could have been brought into production by a small company otherwise?
I was never involved in their program nor did I know the players but they revolutionised the industry and sparked a great deal of jealousy - some of which you seem to exhibit

And it only cost ABX a mere $4.5 million to defend this suit.
We can only hope the financial industry is held to the same blow torch and taken to task (and prison) for the dastardly deeds they have put the world through.
