I think you are getting a little paranoyed here. Ploy would imply manipulation. Have you changed a position because of something you read on SI, other that a PR ? I did not think so. so much for manipulation.
2) I don't think that there is enough money in the SI members accounts to have an impact on a stock like INTC, up or down anyway.
3) I generaly relay information I hear looking for a reaction. For instance your reaction tells me that despite the fact that INTC has had its EPS numbers cut substantialy, there are many share holders that would be stuned if INTC came out with a negative preannouncement.
