That's comparable to having the U,S. government giving 'Joe Taxpayer' a Billion dollar bailout from which 'Joe Taxpayer' pays himself a 5 million dollar bonus - then gets told to pay-back that 5 million dollars out of the Billion dollar grant money (at no cost to himself) or he will not get the next Billion dollar grant - yes, it is idiotic mish-mash nonsense...

I agree.

That was a wimpy idea. (Geitner is politically tone-deaf... he is far too much a part of the Wall Street in-crowd. Obama probably needs to assign a 'political handler' or something to keep this econ. nerd from shooting his mouth off in public... let Geitner work on the complex background details of economic matters while he slowly learns about the bigger picture....)

Personally, I think the windfall profits tax on bonus payment at bailed-out firms is a much fairer and more comprehensive way to solve this problem!
