I propose that Chu get a medal. The Smoot-Hawley memorial award...

As I've said before. Chu was apparently a really good researcher. I wish he'd go back to research where he could do something useful for the country.

This is why discussions about carbon taxes and cap and trade, really need to be done under the auspices of a global trade deal like Kyoto. We've always refused to even discuss Kyoto in the past because of China and India's exemption from Kyoto. It's time to start getting all the stakeholders at the table to talk about these things.

He's right. Tax carbon and that may put our industries at a disadvantage. Correct that disadvantage through tarrifs and you risk a trade war, which contracts trade and makes everyone poorer.

It's a sticky problem.
